Wednesdays Beginner classes - 7 pm and 8 pm:

We're always asked if our beginners classes and workshops are suitable for 'total beginners'... I'm not sure why as the name says it all really. Yes, they're designed for beginners and those who want to go at a more sedate pace if they haven't wobbled for a while.

We like to add small sections of what the classes entail to give new ladies an idea of what to expect as we know that walking through the door for the first time can be a mixture of excitement and nerves until you realise that the ladies who're there went through the same thing and are (relatively) normal. There are so many different styles of belly dance that there's bound to be one that suits your dance style and preference and you may spot one of them below and on the 'Videos' page which you can access from the navigation bar opposite.

The beginners workshops are exactly the same level as our great beginners classes so if you've had a leaflet through your door about workshops in your area all the levels are the same.

The class this month and next will be looking at a range of Egyptian belly dances, modern and traditional and will be posting some of the elements we're covering over the next few days.

This Month

As so many of you have asked about the track we're using this month 'Ana Keda' (sometimes spelt differently!) I'm adding links to sites which have translations of it. I think it's important to try to gain more understanding of what the music entails rather than expect our understanding to be perfect and what better way to develop and even better understanding of this great dance than to understand what the songs mean? Follow the links below to see what others say about Ana Keda: http://www.allthelyrics.com/forum/arabic-lyrics-translation/62211-samira-said-ana-keda.html

Here are videos of arm and hip drills to help with isolations and arm movements.
